Skillshares & Storykeeping

Passing knowledge, hand to hand. Holding memory, heart to heart.

At Moonridge, we believe the most powerful wisdom isn’t written in books—it’s carried in people. In the way an elder kneads dough, a farmer grafts an apple tree, or a neighbor tells a story that’s been told for generations. These are the skills and stories that root us, raise us, and carry us forward.

What We’re Doing Now

We’re weaving together a living library of local knowledge and cultural practice. Current steps include:

  • Curating a network of elders, artists, tradespeople, and storytellers
  • Planning our first workshop calendar and seasonal events
  • Developing spaces for teaching: outdoor shelters, communal halls, and quiet listening rooms
  • Partnering with cultural organizations, historical societies, and local educators

This isn’t education in a vacuum—it’s learning as relationship and renewal.

Our Vision for Cultural Resilience

We imagine a village where:

  • Skills like herbalism, carpentry, fermentation, and quilting are kept alive
  • Oral histories are recorded and shared through listening circles and podcasts
  • Children learn side by side with mentors, not just in classrooms
  • The wisdom of marginalized communities—Black, Indigenous, rural, immigrant—is protected and uplifted

Every time knowledge is shared, it multiplies. Every time a story is told, a connection is made.

Why It Matters

Modern systems treat tradition as disposable and culture as a commodity. We don’t.

In times of transition, it’s not just jobs or buildings that matter—it’s what people know. What we grow, fix, cook, remember, and create together becomes our inheritance.
Skillshares and storykeeping are our tools for survival and celebration.
